The South Asian queer community in Australia is a minority within a minority.
And Trikone Australia is here to support it.
Founded in 2007, Trikone Australia is a non-profit, volunteer-led social-support organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) people of South Asian descent living in Australia.
Through small and large-scale events (such as picnics, movie nights, panel discussions, Bollywood dance parties, theatre productions and Mardi Gras floats), we offer a supportive, empowering and non-judgmental platform, where LGBTIQ+ South Asians can meet, connect and proudly promote awareness and acceptance of their sexuality in society.
Trikone Australia actively works against all forms of oppression based on race, gender, religion, class, sexual orientation and other identities.
South Asians affiliated with Trikone Australia trace their ethnicities to one of the following nations: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, India, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tibet.

Founding Director / Treasurer
Every structure needs a strong foundation and Alan is the pillar who’s been there from the start. As Trikone’s Founding Director, he has shaped the organisation’s vision while guiding its overall direction. His passion for helping others, combined with years of experience in the community, makes him an indispensable part of the team.
Is there anything Trikone-related that doesn’t have Kunal's Midas touch? As the organisation’s Chairperson, Kunal is the spine that binds together all the different chapters of Trikone into one cohesive whole. A scriptwriter, a producer, a performer, a web designer, a graphic artist… Kunal contributes to almost every part of the organisation.
When it comes to entertainment that knocks your socks off, no one does it better than the Cultural Lead of Trikone. Zeenat is the creative force behind some of Trikone’s most successful events — from the hugely popular queer Bollywood dance party Bar Bombay to sell-out theatre productions like Sunderella.
Women's Project Coordinator
Rav is passionate about gender diversity and inclusivity. In her role as Women’s Projects Coordinator, she ensures all genders and sexual identities are well represented. She launched ‒ and continues to manage ‒ Trikone’s Facebook group, Queer South Asian Women in Australia.
With hawk-like attention to detail, Lloyd is the analytical mind that keeps Trikone’s wheels turning. As the group’s Secretary, he never misses a beat when it comes to keeping things in order. His dedication has contributed to the success of numerous initiatives, such as Trikone’s 2020 Mardi Gras float.
The all-rounder that every organisation needs, Zahra is Trikone’s vivacious Marketing Coordinator. Not only can she handle any task you throw her way, but she makes it all look easy. Aside from crafting perfect marketing plans, she is also the spirit behind several Trikone events, such as Let's Talk.
